"Buffalo Field Study" by Frank Buffalo Hyde
$475.00

"Buffalo Field Study"
Mixed Media on Canvas
Frank Buffalo Hyde
Onondoga
8" x 10"

$475

Son of artist Doug Hyde, Frank calls his paintings a reaction against the Southwest’s tradition of serene Indian portraits.  Some of his influences are T.C. Cannon, Fritz Scholder and Basquiat, whose use of text encouraged Hyde’s own ideas.
In his work, Frank says that he tries "to convey the complexity of the Native experience at the beginning of the 21st century.  The images that I transfer onto the surface of my work are meant to reference the comodification of cultures."
