Four Color Jar
Acoma / Laguna
Potter Unknown
Circa 1910
6 1/2" x 7 1/2"
MS 691
$7200 NET (no discount)

This is a lovely jar with thin walls and beautiful proportions.  The skillfully painted design is organized around two bands.  The band around the neck consists of  stacked rectangles.  The midbody is painted with leaf and berry motifs.  A large orange band, with a line break,  encircles the shoulder.  A pair of thin black bands, also with line breaks,  separate the leaf/berry motif from the orange base. Moderate in size, this jar is typical of pieces that were being made for the tourist trade in the early days of the twentieth century.
