"Heheya" (Clown) by Spencer Nutima by Spencer Nutima
$380.00

"Heheya" (Clown)
Spencer Nutima
Hopi
9" height
11471403
$380
This clown figure aptly illustrates Spencer's use of carved elements to detail his katsinas.  Although traditional Heheya figures are shown with a piece of corn-cob on the face, Spencer uses his considerable carving skills to re-create that element from a piece of cottonwood. This piece can be displayed as a standing figure.  Spencer lives at Hopi and participates in the religious activities of his village.  He carries on in the tradition of his grandfather, the famed carver Jimmy Kewanwytewa.
