Dolorita Vigil was born in 1883. She is reported to be the daughter of Cipriana Martinez and Alfonso Vigil. Her work was influenced by her teachers, her aunt, Martina Vigil and her uncle, Florentino Montoya.
Dolorita became a very skillful potter, as seen in this magnificent bowl, although documented pieces of her work are scarce. Her painting seems to have been strongly influenced by Florentino. The 1910 census for San Ildefonso lists Dolorita's occupation as a dressmaker. She died in the influenza epidemic of 1918.
