This is the first year that Elizabeth Manygoats has created Nativity tiles. As typical of Elizabeth’s work, these figures are realistically painted and articulated. Her tiles show her technical expertise and are not cut into shape. She begins with a ball of clay which she flattens then gradually turns and shapes the tile with her hands. The figures are shaped in relief fashion so they and other details including the hills emerge from the clay, giving dimension that is complemented by the clear pure colors of the painting.
