"Jar with Three Dancers" by Marcellus and Elizabeth Medina
$2,950.00

"Jar with Three Dancers"
Marcellus & Elizabeth Medina
Zia Pueblo
10" x 10 1/2"
MS 365
$2950
Natural pigments and traditional firing.

Marcellus Medina's great-grandmother was Trinidad Medina, a well-known potter during the 1920's and 1930's, and a key reviver of the Zia pottery tradition.  The Medina family was instrumental in restoring the traditional brown, buff-beige and red pottery featuring the Zia roadrunner, speedy deliverer of prayers.  The
ancient buff background recipe had been lost and white had been substituted.
Elizabeth Medina grew up in the Jemez Pueblo and learned pottery from her mother and mother-in-law.
Elizabeth actually makes the pot and Marcellus sketches the designs on the pots.
The pot is then fired outdoors by Elizabeth.

Shipping $65.
